The first form that comes off our processing line. After hulling and drying it is quality-sorted and graded by size, and only then packed.
This is the walnut at its most honest: you crack it yourself, at the moment you eat it. The shell keeps the kernel fresh far longer than any packaging can, which is why we recommend it if you plan to keep your nuts for months.
Varieties: mainly Chandler, with Franquette, Fernor and Hartley from our older plantings.
